I mean….issa lewk.
Hello everyone! I’m sure lots of you will already know if you follow me over on instagram (@LauraLouMakeup) then I have been using the Currentbody Skin LED face mask for a good few weeks now and today I want to share with you my thoughts, the results and some before and after photos.
First up : this is the first LED treatment I have ever used on my skin. I have heard so many good things over the years from peers, skincare experts, facialists and even makeup artists that I have always been really interested in what it does. In short it will give you healthier looking and feeling skin.
After a pretty full-on last year or so (I think I speak for everyone!) my skin has suffered quite a bit. From more stress, less sleep and me neglecting my skincare routine, I really noticed the difference in my skin and how it looked. I just looked a bit lacklustre, dull, my pores are more visible than ever and I was getting odd breakouts and patchiness that I have not had for a while. A couple of months ago I decided to really focus on getting a good skincare routine back and made sure I was spending time both in the AM and PM on my skincare routine and I also added in using the Currentbody Skin LED mask into my routine and my skin is feeling and looking really good. I think if you are curious about the LED or have been thinking of getting one, then keep reading on so I can explain more about it. ALSO : I have a 20% off code that works across ALL Currentbody LED masks and skincare – huge savings!

Light therapy was originally developed by NASA for healing wounds in space. in the 1990’s the US Navy Seals began using it and shortly after, aestheticians introduced it into their treatment rooms. LED light therapy is backed by clinical data that is will help skin repair, stimulate collagen, fade age spots, decrease inflammation and smooth the skin.
Top skin clinics and facialiosts have been using LED light therapy for many years now for this reason and the results of light therapy are cumulative, so you need to have treatment frequently and be consistent. This is where LED at-home masks have stepped in : an affordable way to get clinic-like results.
One of the primary benefits of LED therapy is there is no downtime and discomfort, quite the opposite! The skin often looks radiant and glowing straight after treatment hence why it is loved by so many makeup artists that use them to prep their clients’ skin before the red carpet and events. You get that instant smoothness and glow!
It’s also suitable for all skin types and tones and it is pain-free.
‘Nourished, healthy skin that is visibly glowing and is clinically proven to reduce wrinkles by 35% in just 4 weeks.’
This is fully flexible mask delivers the perfect dose of dual LED light directly to the skin. It’s been made to medical device directives and delivers the same clinically-proven wavelengths as professional salon machines. It used both red light and near infra-red light.
Red light (633nm) = stimulates the production of new collagen, calms redness and evens the skin tone
Near infra-red (830nm) = penetrates and works beneath the skin’s surface to boost circulation, improve blood flow and boosts oxygen to the skin’s cells.
These two wavelengths work below the skin’s surface to stimulate the natural rejuvenation process, creating a complexion that is visibly glowing and noticeably healthier looking.
The mask’s flexibility ensures that the maximum amount of light hits the lower layers of the skin, delivering both instant and long term results. It is made from a patented flexible silicone that makes is comfortable to wear and it fits really easily onto the face, ensuring maximum light penetration.
You get both instant and long-term results from using LED on the skin, a reason why so many makeup artists use them to prep their clients’ skin before the red carpet and events. You get that instant smoothness and glow!

To use this mask effectively you should use it around 3/4 times a week for 4 weeks at a time. You can repeat this throughout the year as and when you need or want. The mask is charged via a USB plug and you need to charge it overnight when you first get it. This gives you plenty of uses before you need to charge it again. maybe around 30! It doesn’t need to be plugged in when you use it so you can move around etc – the mask is attracted to a small portable on/off switch.
I use my LED mask in the evenings when watching the TV but you can use it anytime of the day it’s just personal preference and your routine.
Step-by-step to use the mask:
1.) Cleanse your skin to remove any makeup / SPF and daily grime. You CAN apply serum before you use the LED but it needs to be safe to use with the LED light therapy so I would suggest using ones that are on the Currentbody website. The Green Tea Serum is one of the best I think and the one I use the most : it apparently makes the LED light therapy work efficiently so you will see results more quickly. I also sometimes use the Currentbody Hydrogel masks which are also fab and will enhance the power of the mask.
2.) Fit the mask onto your face so it is comfortable and adjust the straps at the back so it fits well.
3.) Press and hold down the on/off button until the lights come on. It automatically will switch off after 10 minutes. If you want to turn it off before this you simply hold down the on/off button again.
4.) Whilst wearing the mask you can just relax, watch TV, have a cuppa.
5.) Afer 10 minutes and the mask has switched off you can simply carry on with your day – finish your skincare routine as you would normally. There is no redness or downtime.
6.) Repeat 3-5 times a week for 4 weeks and remember to give your mask a wipe (I use a flannel) to keep it clean.
I can definitely see a difference and improvement in my skin and I am really enjoying using it. Not just from the results I have seen from using LED light therapy but also the actual *act* of using it : the 10 minutes of evening ‘me time’! It is really relaxing, it feels just soothing and warming on the skin ; and I look forward to using it! I am a busy mum with a lot to juggle day-to-day and I was worried it would be one of those things I used for a week then stopped / forgot about, but because I enjoy using it, it has kept me coming back for more.
I keep it downstairs in the living room, alongside the green tea serum and masks. So when I have had my PM shower or bath and cleansed, I don’t use any skincare until I come downstairs and am about to use the LED mask. It’s one thing I find really easy to stick to and I can carry on watching TV with it on so there’s no disruption to my evening at all.
My skin has certainly improved with LED light therapy. It’s hard to put a finger on what exactly what it has done over the last few weeks but I think it is a combination of a few things : my skin is feeling and looking healthier overall. 100%. I think it looks smoother and plumper and I am having days wear I am not wearing any base makeup at all : which has never really happened before! It has also helped brighten my skin and evened out the tone…and definitely reduced redness.
Below are some photos of my skin before and after : these are 6 weeks apart and of course no edit. Taken on the same camera in the same window in my house unfortunately the light was different on the days. My skin is still not perfect, it has bumps, texture and pores but I do think it’s good to see realistic before and after images.
I want to re-iterate that I have used a great skincare routine alongside my LED mask. I know you will get incredible results from incorporating the LED mask into your skincare regime BUT you need to be using decent skincare products too.
If I haven’t answered your questions in this post then please comment below or fire me a message over on Instagram and I will try to help. This is not a cheap product and I want to be honest and give you realistic expectations of what the mask could do for you.
Common questions about the Currentbody Skin LED mask:
Do I need to use the mask constantly?
Consistency is really key with this. Don’t get bored after seeing no results after 2 weeks : keep going and be persistent. I have been using this for 4/5 weeks at least 4 times and week and I intend to go to 6 before I have a break.
Will it hurt my eyes?
No. There’s no harmful lights or UV our anything! These masks are tested to the strictest standards and are FDA approved. They go through rigorous tests.
Will it make my skin red?
No. After using your skin should be looking normal and it will often have a lovely fresh glow.
Does I help with acne?
This mask used red and near info-red light therapy. Blue light is typically used in acne treatments.
Can I use Retinol alongside LED?
Over-the-cpunter retinal is absolutely fine to use, even straight after an LED session. I have been using it!
LED therapy and pregnancy?
Not reccomened for use whilst pregnant simply as it has not been tested.
Use a supporting skincare regime to enhance the benefits of LED!
As with most things in skincare, your LED mask will work best when used in conjunction with the right skincare products so make sure you enhance your results with some great skincare. Cleanse, acids, eye cream, serums, moisturisers, SPF and face masks! Your skin is an investment my friends.
I’ve always had a reasonably good routine and access to fabulous products because of my job so I know I am lucky, and I would always say this is an add-on to a good routine. You can’t just slap on an LED mask without looking after your skincare with topical products and except results. This is an addition to your skincare…a booster.
LAURACB
The Currentbody Skin LED mask is definitely a skincare investment as it is priced at £279. It’s not cheap! My code LAURACB will work against this to get you 20% off which is a near £60 saving! This works against all the Currentbody LED masks and their own line of skincare. I have mentioned this above and these products are great for prepping the skin before light therapy treatment AND after. I personally really love the Green Tea Serum and the Hyaluronic Face Masks as a skin prep.
