The Spa at Sopwell House in St Albans has a distinct club called The Club at Cottonmill. This spa has been nominated by the Good Spa Guide as a finalist for the best day spa in the UK.
Sopwell House is a beautiful Georgian manor which has been converted into a fashionable country hotel. The spa was refurbished in just 2019 and features the latest spa facilities according to the guide. The Cottonmill includes a 14-metre indoor pool, two hot tubs, a sauna, a steam room, a poolside terrace and a sitting room.
You can be guaranteed a relaxing day steaming off all your stress here. After any treatments, you can then head to the Rose Relaxation Room. If you upgrade your experience to The Club at Cottonmill you can experience three floors of saunas, steam rooms, experience showers, relaxation space and a “gorgeous indoor/outdoor hydro pool which opens onto the spa garden”.
One of Hertfordshire’s other best spas is Champneys Tring in Berkhamsted. The Good Spa Guide say that the spa is Champney’s flagship spa, and is “a combination of a glamorous stately home and holistic wellbeing”. The spa has been nominated for the best spa for wellness category and the best spa for innovation category.
It offers an innovative Marine and Wellness Spa, which “offers guests a range of water-based treatments using the recuperative qualities of seawater, algae and marine minerals”, according to the Good Spa Guide. They offer over 100 types of treatment including Indian head massage and what the Good Spa Guide call “interesting and unusual treatments”.
The Sequoia Spa at The Grove is based at the championship golf course and 300-acre country estate in Chandler’s Cross. The Good Spa Guide said the spa is an “impressive” multi-storey spa built in a former stable block and it has been nominated for the best destination spa award.
The spa features a “stunning” 22-metre indoor swimming pool and a 25-metre outdoor pool which opens in the summertime. The spa has 19 different therapy rooms which offer many different body, face and beauty treatments. If you want a weekend spa holiday this could be the perfect trip.
